A recent update that was released on January 24th by the PlayStation 5 console has blocked the ability of the Cronus Zen and Beloader Besavior U5 adapters from working on the PS5 console. These were previously the easiest and cheapest options for getting the Quadstick or Xbox Adaptive Controller to work directly on the PS5. With the update, currently the only direct option (without using PS5 remote play) for using adaptive controllers on the PS5 is the Beloader Besavior Controller/Adapter. This is until the other adapters can fix the compatibility issue caused by the latest update.

Xbox has a new update that will block unofficial accessories from working with their systems. Gamers who are currently using gaming devices that are not officially supported by Xbox may receive an error message informing them that their device will be blocked (Error 0x82d60002). The Xbox Adaptive Controller will not be affected, but gamers who use certain accessories or adapters may be blocked from using it on Xbox. For those gamers who use the Brook XB converter to play on the Xbox with their Quadstick may experience this error. Other converters such as the Cronus Zen will not be affected, so gamers may need to switch to this converter instead.

Beloader recently released a new adapter which will be a plug-and-play adapter for the PS5 called the Besavior U5 adapter. A new accessibility feature was recently released on PS5 called Assist Controller. It is similar to the Copilot feature on Xbox which allows players to use two controllers together to control one user profile in a game. This can allow two players to work together to play a game or allow a single user to play a game with two different controllers. Ensure that your PS5 has the latest update. Then to use Assist Controller go to Settings > Accessibility > Controllers > Use Second Controller for Assistance. Then turn on Use Assist Controller to activate this feature.

The ByoWave Proteus controller is a new adaptive controller that is currently in the beta testing phase and may be available later this year. This is a modular kit that contains different controller components that can be put together by the user to meet their individual needs. The kit will have pieces containing the joysticks and buttons that can link together in different orientations for the user. This will allow the user to essentially build their own controller based on which orientation of the buttons best allows them to access the controls. Stay tuned for more updates on the ByoWave Proteus.

There will also be options for plugging in additional joysticks and switches.
